Carpet cleaning in King City and King Township, Ontario

Custom houses on big lots, long drives, farm mud at the side door and very hard well water in the villages. King is a rural township, and a carpet job here starts with where the van can park.

Working here

A long drive and a big lot

Many King houses sit well back from the road. The first subdivisions in King City were bungalows on large lots, and plenty of those have since been replaced by much bigger custom houses, while estate streets like Kingscross have lots measured in acres. The van may not get close to the door the carpet is behind. Tell us about the drive, any gate and the nearest door to the stairs when you call, so we bring enough line and plan the route before anything is unrolled.

Very hard water in Nobleton and Schomberg

York Region supplies Nobleton and Schomberg from groundwater and lists both as very hard, harder than King City, which gets a blend. Hard water and soap do not rinse cleanly. A carpet that has been shampooed at home in Nobleton often feels slightly stiff and greys quickly, because the residue left behind holds the next lot of dirt. Extraction draws that residue out of the pile with the soil.

Barn and paddock dirt

King still has horse and cattle farms, and plenty of houses that are not farms have a paddock or a barn out back. What comes in on boots and dogs is heavier than town dirt: clay, manure and bedding fibre, worst in the mudroom and the hall off it. We vacuum hard and pre-treat that lane before the wand goes on, because wetting farm dirt first only spreads it.

A township, not a suburb

King Township is mostly countryside. The Township says most of its land lies on the moraine, the protected ridge where the Humber River starts, and the rest is farmland, forest and the edge of the Holland Marsh at Ansnorveldt. The people live in a handful of villages, King City, Nobleton and Schomberg the largest, and on rural lots between them.

That shapes the job. On a town street the van parks in front of the house and the setup is short. In King the house may be well back from the road, the drive may be gravel, and the door nearest the stairs may be round the side. We ask about access when you book because it decides how the day runs.

What King carpet goes through

Big custom houses mean big carpeted rooms upstairs, wide landings and, often, a finished lower level. Large rooms are measured rather than counted, and stairs are quoted separately because each tread is done by hand. Good rugs laid over broadloom get their dyes tested first.

The dirt is different too. Farm and trail mud comes in heavier than city grit, and in Nobleton and Schomberg the very hard water means any carpet shampooed at home is likely carrying residue. That residue is often why a carpet that was cleaned last year looks dull again now.

Mudrooms and side halls take the farm dirt, and in winter they take the grit from a gravel drive as well. Those lanes are vacuumed hard and pre-treated before the wand touches them, and the upstairs rooms, which see far less of it, usually need only a straightforward clean.

Asked in King City

Our house is down a long private drive. Can you still clean it?

Yes, as long as we know before the day. Tell us roughly how far the house is from where a van can park, whether there is a gate, and which door is closest to the carpet. If the house is too far for the line to reach, we will say so on the phone rather than when we arrive.

Do you come out to Schomberg and Kettleby, or only King City?

The whole township. King City, Nobleton, Schomberg, Kettleby, Laskay and the rural concessions in between. Give us the address and we confirm the job and the price before the day.

We are in Nobleton and our water is very hard. Does that matter for the carpet?

It matters for what you use between professional cleans. Home shampoo with very hard water leaves a film that grabs dirt, so the carpet looks worse sooner. We extract that residue out with the soil. Between visits, vacuum often and blot spills with plain water rather than a shampoo.
