Carpet cleaning in Pickering, Ontario, from Frenchman's Bay to Seaton
Bay Ridges and West Shore face each other across Frenchman's Bay. Amberlea, Dunbarton and Brock Ridge fill the middle of the city, and Seaton is still being built to the north. A damp rec room by the lake and a builder's carpet on its first clean are different jobs, and we plan for both.

Working here
Two neighbourhoods on the bay
Bay Ridges and West Shore sit on either side of Frenchman's Bay, with Lake Ontario to the south and Highway 401 and the rail lines to the north. Air off the lake keeps a basement cooler and damper than one a few kilometres inland, so a carpeted rec room down there takes longer to dry after cleaning. We extract as much water as we can with extra dry passes, set air moving, and ask you to run a dehumidifier if you have one. Opening a basement window on a humid summer day lets more moisture in, not less.
Seaton is a town still under construction
North of the older city, the Seaton Urban Area is planned under the Central Pickering Development Plan for about 70,000 residents, with roughly half the land kept green. Most houses there are new, so most carpets are on their first or second clean. While the streets around you are still being built, fine grey construction dust blows in and settles into new broadloom. It vacuums out well if it is done often. Left alone, it works down to the backing and dulls the colour.
Sand from the waterfront trail
West Shore runs from Petticoat Creek to the bay, and the Waterfront Trail follows the shore. If the family walks the beach or the dog swims in the bay, sand comes home in shoes and fur and ends up in the stair carpet and the hall. Let wet sand dry, vacuum it slowly in two directions, and only then call us for the marks it leaves. Scrubbing wet sand grinds it into the pile.
Three kinds of Pickering house
Pickering's neighbourhoods were built at different times, and the carpet follows the age of the house. Close to the lake, around Bay Ridges and West Shore, finished basements are common, often with carpet in the rec room. Through the middle of the city, in Amberlea, Dunbarton, Liverpool and Highbush, houses tend to have hard flooring on the main floor and broadloom on the stairs and upstairs. In Duffin Heights and Seaton almost everything is new, and the carpet still has its original colour.
So the useful first question on the phone is which floors are carpeted and how many stairs there are. Call 647-697-7435 with that and the price is set from it and confirmed before work starts. If you are next door in Scarborough, see carpet cleaning in Scarborough.
In Seaton and Duffin Heights, tell us if the street outside is still being finished. Curbs, fencing and parked trades can keep the van further from the door than you would expect, and the hose has to reach the top of the stairs. If we know before the day, we can plan where to park and which door to use, rather than working it out on the pavement.
Rugs, sofas and drying time
Plenty of Pickering calls include a rug or a sofa. Rugs are checked for loose dye on a hidden corner before any water goes on, as the area rug cleaning page explains, and some rugs we will not wet clean on your floor. Sofas follow the label code, as set out on the upholstery cleaning page.
Drying is the part people ask about most, especially in lakeside basements. Our post on how long carpet takes to dry covers what speeds it up. If the dog has used one corner of the rec room for years, read pet urine smell in carpet first, because that is often an underlay problem and is quoted differently.
What we bring
We bring the equipment and the solutions, which are eco-friendly and safe around children and pets once dry. Our cleaners are insured and background-checked. The general method is on the carpet cleaning page. If a basement has taken water rather than just dirt, that is water damage restoration, a separate service.

Asked in Pickering
We moved into Seaton two years ago. When should the carpet have its first clean?
If it looks fine, you are not late. Builder broadloom in a new house usually shows wear first in the lane from the stairs to the main bedroom. Clean it when that lane starts to look grey, before the grit has worn the fibre, and it will come back well. Our post on how often to clean carpets goes through the signs.
Our Bay Ridges basement carpet smells musty. Will cleaning fix it?
It depends where the smell lives. If it is in the surface fibre, extraction and good drying usually deal with it. If the underlay has been damp for a long time, or water has come in from outside, cleaning the top will not reach it and we will tell you so. That second case is water damage, which is a different service.
Do you clean sectional sofas in Pickering homes?
Yes, on the same visit as the carpet. We read the cleaning code on the label first, because some fabrics take water and some do not, then test a hidden spot. Most fabric sectionals are cleaned in place, piece by piece, and the cushions dry in a few hours with air moving.
