Carpet, rug and sofa cleaning in Oakville, Ontario

In Oakville the call is as often about a rug as about broadloom. A hand knotted wool rug in a heritage house below Robinson Street, a sofa in a Glen Abbey family room, builder carpet on the stairs north of Dundas. We clean all three in your home, and we tell you plainly when a rug should not be cleaned on the floor.

Working here

Heritage houses and the rugs inside them

Old Oakville, the stretch from Robinson Street down to the lake between Sixteen Mile Creek and Allan Street, was designated a heritage conservation district in 1981, and the Town updated its plan in 2025. First and Second Street and Trafalgar Road have their own districts. Houses this old tend to have hardwood with a good rug on it and a runner on the stairs, often wool. Wool is cleaned cooler and with less water than nylon, and the stair rods or tacks on an old runner are checked before we start.

Persian, Oriental and the rugs we will not wet

A hand knotted wool rug can usually be cleaned on your floor, but only after a hidden corner has been wetted to see whether the dye moves. If it bleeds, we stop and say so. Silk, and the viscose sold as art silk or bamboo silk, is not wet cleaned in the home at all, because water ruins it. In that case we tell you honestly that it needs a specialist rug plant rather than pretending otherwise.

Lakeside basements dry slower

Bronte and the streets near the lake in Old Oakville sit close to the water, and a basement carpet in an older house there can take longer to dry than one in a newer house up north. We extract hard and finish with dry passes, but you can help: run the dehumidifier, open the doors between rooms and keep air moving until the pile feels dry right down to the backing.

Rugs first, then carpet

A lot of Oakville houses have more rug than broadloom. That changes the visit. We start with the rugs, because each one is tested before it is cleaned and the test decides the method. Wool gets a cool rinse at a gentle pH, cotton and jute get as little water as possible, and anything that bleeds or turns out to be viscose is left dry. The fibre by fibre detail is on the area rug cleaning page, and if you want to keep a wool rug in shape between visits, our post on cleaning a wool rug covers what is safe at home.

The broadloom comes next, and where it is depends on the age of the house. In the family homes of Iroquois Ridge, River Oaks and Glen Abbey, the carpet that is left is often on the stairs and in the bedrooms, with rugs over hardwood in the main rooms. North of Dundas, in the newer streets toward Palermo and past West Oak Trails, it is usually builder carpet on its first or second clean. Stairs are worked by hand from the top; rooms get hot water extraction with a rinse and dry passes. The general method is on the carpet cleaning page.

Sofas, chairs and the soft furniture

Furniture cleaning in Oakville is often the larger half of the job: a sectional in the family room, upholstered dining chairs, an ottoman. All of it is done in place, with the same van, after the label is read and a hidden spot is tested. If you have tried to do the sofa yourself and it dried with rings, read can you clean a sofa yourself, then see the upholstery cleaning page.

Price and booking

There are no Oakville prices, because there is one rate card for everywhere we work. Call 647-697-7435 with the rooms, the stairs, the rugs and the furniture, and the price is confirmed before work starts. The post on carpet cleaning cost explains how it is worked out. We bring the equipment and the solutions, which are eco-friendly and safe around children and pets once dry, and our cleaners are insured and background-checked. Halton Region subsidises backwater valves and sump work for Oakville homes; if the basement has already taken water, see our water damage service. Over the Mississauga line, there is carpet cleaning in Mississauga.

Asked in Oakville

Can you clean a Persian rug at our house in Oakville?

Often, yes. We look at the back for knots, check the fringe, and test a hidden corner for dye before any solution goes on. If the colour runs, or the pile turns out to be silk or viscose, we will not wet clean it on the floor and we will tell you why. Machine made rugs are usually straightforward.

How much does carpet cleaning cost in Oakville?

The same as anywhere else we work. There is no Oakville rate. The price depends on the rooms, the stairs, any rugs and the upholstery, and we confirm it before work starts. Our post on what carpet cleaning costs explains what goes into the number.

Can you clean the sofa and the dining chairs too?

Yes, on the same visit. We read the cleaning code on each label, because some fabrics take water and some do not, and test a hidden spot for colour. Fabric sofas and upholstered chair seats are usually extracted in place and dry in a few hours with air moving. Leather is a different job, so mention it when you call.
