How much does carpet cleaning cost in Toronto?
The published rates, the minimum that catches out one-room jobs, and the handful of things about your carpet that decide where in the range you land.
Carpet cleaning in Toronto costs $40 to $60 for a small to medium room on AllCleaner's published rates, or $0.25 to $0.50 per square foot for larger areas. Every visit carries a minimum service fee of $100 to $150, and a full house of three to five rooms runs from $200 to $1,000 or more depending on size and condition.
The rate card
These are the published figures, taken from the pricing page. They are ranges, not quotes. The exact figure is confirmed before anyone starts.
| What is being cleaned | Published rate |
|---|---|
| One room, small to medium | $40 to $60 |
| Larger areas, per square foot | $0.25 to $0.50 |
| Minimum service fee, per visit | $100 to $150 |
| Full house, 3 to 5 rooms | $200 to $1,000+ |
| Commercial carpet, per square foot | $0.20 to $0.40 |
The wide band on a full house is honest rather than vague. Three small bedrooms in good condition and five large rooms with a finished basement, two flights of stairs and a dog are both "a house".
The minimum fee, and why one room rarely makes sense
The per room rate and the minimum do not add together. If the work comes to less than the minimum, you pay the minimum. So a single bedroom at $40 to $60 is charged at $100 to $150, because the travel, the set-up and the pack-down are the same for one room as for five.
That makes the cheapest square foot the one you add to a visit that is already happening. If the crew is coming for the living room, the hallway and the stairs cost far less now than they would as their own call-out next month. The same goes for a mattress or a sofa: same machine, same visit.
What moves the price inside the range
Size, measured properly. "A room" on the rate card means a small to medium room. A long open plan living and dining space is two rooms by any fair count, and above a certain size it is quicker for everyone to measure it and price by the square foot.
Stairs. Stairs are slow. Every tread and riser is done by hand with a small tool, on a slope, with a hose that has to be managed the whole way. They are quoted by the flight as their own line, not folded into a room. Count your flights and landings before you call and the figure you get will hold.
Condition. A carpet that is vacuumed weekly and cleaned every year or so needs one pre-spray and a normal extraction. A carpet that has gone five years in a rental with a traffic lane worn grey down the middle needs pre-treatment, agitation and more than one pass. That is more time and more solution, and it sits at the top of the range.
Stains and pet accidents. General soil comes out in the ordinary pass. Spot work on wine, coffee, grease or urine is done separately with a hand tool, and it takes as long as it takes. Some marks will not come out at all, and you should be told that before the work is booked. There is more on that in why carpet stains come back.
Furniture and access. A clear floor is quick. A room where the bed, two dressers and a desk all have to be shifted and put back is not. Parking and elevators matter in a condo for the same reason: the time between the van and your door is part of the job.
How to get a figure that does not change on the day
Give the same five facts on the phone that the crew would look for at the door. How many rooms and roughly how big. How many flights of stairs. What the carpet is made of, if you know. Whether there are pets. Which marks you most want gone. A photo of the worst area helps more than any description.
Ask what is included. On AllCleaner's rates the equipment and solutions are supplied and there is nothing to rent or provide. Ask whether the figure covers moving furniture, and whether spot treatment is in the price or beside it.
Be wary of a price that only works if the technician finds nothing extra when they arrive. A low headline number that grows at the door is not cheaper. It is just a quote you were given late.

Short answers.
- How much does it cost to clean one room of carpet in Toronto?
- AllCleaner's published rate is $40 to $60 for a small to medium room. A minimum service fee of $100 to $150 applies to every visit, so a single room on its own is charged at the minimum rather than the per room rate. The figure is confirmed before work starts.
- Is carpet cleaning priced per room or per square foot?
- Both are used. Ordinary bedrooms and living rooms are priced per room at $40 to $60. Large or open plan areas are measured and priced at $0.25 to $0.50 per square foot, because a room count does not describe them fairly. Commercial carpet runs $0.20 to $0.40 per square foot.
- Why is there a minimum fee for carpet cleaning?
- The van, the machine, the travel and the set-up cost the same whether one room is cleaned or five. AllCleaner's minimum service fee is $100 to $150. It usually makes sense to add a hallway, a second room or the stairs to the same visit instead of paying the minimum for one room.
